Writing poems is fun and exciting
Relaxing and uniting
It brings joy, creativity, and expression
All while teaching some kind of lesson
Poetry is a work of art
One that is close to my heart
It paints a picture, dark or light
O', such a sight
Emotions poured onto a sheet
Some leave you on the edge of your seat
Scary, happy, angry, and sad
This part of English makes me so glad
Some may grumble at this assignment
But I find it comes with perfect alignment
Pick up your pencil, let the words flow
Poetry makes my heart glow
